El Cortijo Alfacara is a property located in the municipality of Benadalid (Málaga), in the Serrania de Ronda, near the railway station Cortes de la Frontera.
It consists of two farms covering an area of around 76 hectares.
The property has an area with trees, carob, olive and cherries, figs, etc. There is a well that provides water for consumption and irrigation of gardens. There is an area of cereals, and an area dedicated to the farming of sheep, horses, chickens, geese and turkeys.
Current living accommodation comprises of a wooden house with 2 bedrooms, with solar panels and wind turbines, hot water, large lounge, kitchen and bathroom. There is also a home in ruins, with building permit for reconstruction.
There are four outbuildings for animals and storage of alpacas. There are all kinds of machinery for agricultural and cattle, tractors, baler, trailers, etc.
A nursery area supplies new plants to repopulate our own plantations with carob, oak, etc.
The carob plantation has been planted. Used widely for use in cosmetics and dietary products, there are now over 3,000 planted carob trees that will begin to bear fruit in a time period of 2/3 years. Over 150 cherry trees are planted and already bearing fruit this season, over 2,000 kg of fruit has been collected. There is also an olive grove, with more than 1,500 trees which will bear fruit within 3/4 years. There are also large, old oak trees. All oaks are sanitized to prevent fires and free of weeds.
An organic garden produces the supply of vegetables, onions, garlic, chickpeas, beans, potatoes, tomatoes, green beans, etc.
Another production is cereal and fodder for the animals on the farm and a plantation, made with barley and beans, making the farm self-sufficient.
The other aspect of the farm is the livestock, there are about 200 sheep and goats that produce about 200 lambs a year, which are partially sent to slaughter and elsewhere to restock. Also the poultry farming, with chickens and geese naturally fed with cereals, pumpkin, etc., Living in semi-freedom they provides a deep orange egg yolk and a density that are nothing like the eggs purchased in supermarkets. Finally is the beekeeping, with the diverse landscape of plants and the fresh air of the Serrania de Ronda providing a healthy and pure honey. We currently have installed 4 panels with about 2,000 bees.
